Papiesfontein Beach Horse Rides offers guests an unforgettable view of the bush, river and beach around Jeffrey’s Bay and the chance to see wildlife including bushbuck, rare birds and even whales, as well as breathtaking dunes and vegetation on guided two-hour horseback rides.
Started by Frankie and Esré Lötter in 1996, Papiesfontein Beach Horse Rides now have plenty of well trained, good-natured horses, as well as experienced guides who escort riders twice daily on a 13 km route culminating in a 6km stretch of pristine, deserted beach. This popular experience is not to be missed.

This horseback riding tour was absolutely amazing! The views were breathtaking, and we all had so much fun. The guide was super cool --- he took the time to see how well we could ride and even let us gallop, which was such a highlight. He also took lots of photos and videos for us, which was a really nice touch. I've done a few similar rides in other countries, but none of them were as great as this one. It was simply incredible. I'll definitely be coming back!

When I stumbled across the Papiesfontein website while planning our trip along the Garden Route the experience looked amazing. It was actually better! Being absolute beginners we were slightly nervous, but were quickly put at ease by the excellent instructions and beautiful well behaved horses. The route we were taken on was simply stunning never seen a beach like this. Would definitely come again. Thank you so much for a wonderful afternoon.
