Self drive to Amakhala Game Reserve for a guided Day Safari! Feel the heartbeat and rhythm of Africa as you become part of a safari adventure in the malaria-free Eastern Cape, only 45 minutes drive from Port Elizabeth.

Your experienced and knowledgeable ranger will wow you with unforgettable wildlife sightings and breathtaking scenery, all experienced from the back of an open safari vehicle.

Day Safari Welcome Centre – Amakhala Game Reserve Important Information: The arrival time (09h00) allows for check-in, meeting your ranger, and a brief orientation. The activity itself begins at 09h30.

Weather:

Our day safaris run daily, no matter the weather. Each season brings its own safari charm—lush landscapes in summer, golden grasslands in winter and exciting wildlife moments throughout the year.

Things to bring:

Please remember to bring comfortable clothing, a warm jacket (even in summer), a hat and sunglasses, sunscreen, a water bottle, a camera or smartphone for photos and binoculars (optional but great for wildlife viewing).

The Amakhala "Half-Day Guided Big 5 Safari - Lunch Inc." safari was fantastic. We drove around the wilderness in an open-top off-road vehicle, which was an incredible experience. We encountered lions, tigers, giraffes, rhinos, zebras, monkeys, ostriches, several species of turtles, numerous deer and pig-shaped animals, and other animals and birds up close. We enjoyed a delicious meal in the field. We highly recommend this safari.
