More about Sani Pass and

Travelling from Durban we make our way to Sani Pass the well known gateway to the Mountain Kingdom of Lesotho. The Sani Pass is over 3000 metres above sea level and is known for having 4 seasons in one day. Spectacular views from the winding road (originally a mule track) are simply breath taking. South Africa’s national flower, the Protea, can be found up here, high in the mountains.

Populated by the Basotho, a hardy people who have lived in Lesotho since the 1600’s, we take time to visit a village and learn a bit about their lifestyle and what it’s like to live at the top of the world. Before heading back to Durban we stop at the highest pub in Africa where we have lunch and you will be able to taste their local beer (Maluti).
