Middelvlei Wines
Join us at the Middelvlei Boerebraai Restaurant any day of the week for our traditional braai (South African BBQ) themed tapas and wine pairings or our unique Wine Blending Experience.
Situated at the foot of Devon Valley and overlooking the Bottelary Hills, Middelvlei wine farm is home to the Momberg family. Their story begins in 1919 when two brothers purchased the farm and has continued for one hundred years to grow around a strong sense of tradition and family ideals. Today, Brothers Ben and Tinnie Momberg apply the knowledge passed down to them through three generations of wine making to produce wine of exceptional quality and reputation. Famous for our unique Free-run Pinotage, Middelvlei has shown time and again that traditional methods and attention to detail, both in the vineyard and cellar, hold sway when it comes to creating wine. What we lack for in ostentation, we more than make up for in quality and a rustic authenticity that sets us apart.
This approach spills over into our Boerebraai Restaurant, where we offer a traditional Braai lunch every day of the week, as well as braai-tapas and wine pairings to complement our range of Middelvlei wines.

It was a wonderful experience. The wine expert knew his wines and was happy to answer all our questions. He took us through the list & gave us enough space to make our selections & also to taste. Lovely interpersonal skills too!

Fantstic experience at Middelvlei. Staff are very friendly and competent. Ben specifically. The birthday party was a bit noisy but we sat far enough from them to enjopy the wine farm.

Sadly, as RSA is still under some restrictions due to COVID-19, most wine farms' hours and activities are still limited. We weren't able to have the pairing as we were in Stellenbosch on a day the kitchen was closed. However, they were kind enough to give us a wine tasting on the house with some freshly baked "potbrood" and the pate, some jams and butter which was real treat!
