Your full day tour starts with a pick up from you hotel in Cape Town or surrounds. The exact time will be confirmed with you the day before the trip. Travel to Simon’s Town is just 45 minutes from Cape Town where you will meet the crew at the Apex Shark Expeditions shop. Guests are welcomed aboard White Pointer II. A full safety and weather briefing is given before departure.

Our shark tours to either Seal Island or Cape Point both offer very different opportunities. Possible shark species can include Seven gill cow sharks, Mako Sharks, Blue sharks and Great white sharks. The location for the day will be determined by the best shark activity and sea conditions and will be confirmed with you the day before your trip. Whales, dolphins and many species of sea birds are often encountered on this adventurous expedition. As we adopt an eco style of operating our trips, going to sea with Apex is like going on a safari game drive and we will try to take in as much marine wildlife as possible on our trips.

We will also visit the following - BOULDERS BEACH PENGUIN COLONY AND - THE CAPE OF GOOD HOPE

Duration:

When:

All year round every day except for Christmas and New Year's day. We see a variety of shark species throughout the year according to the seasons, weather, water temperature, and other factors. Trips are weather-dependent and not species-dependent.

Where:

We will pick you up in the Cape Town area. Please indicate where you would like to be picked up. Collection times will be advised the day before VIA EMAIL and can start anytime from 06h00 or 07h00. Our vessel, White Pointer II departs and returns to Simon’s Town Pier, Wharf and Main Street, Simon’s Town.

Weather:

Weather permitting. The safety of you, and our guest will not be compromised, and the skipper's decision is final. Final collection times are advised the day before and can be anytime from approx 6:00 am. Please allow a little flexibility in your itinerary to allow for weather changes.

What to Wear:

Warm clothing in winter: May to September – Closed non-slip shoes, long pants, waterproof jacket and cap / beanie, scarf. In summer: October – April – a light wind breaker, cap/hat, All year round – bathing suit. Bathing suit (donned under your clothing to facilitate changing into your wetsuit aboard)

Things to bring:

Dress in layers, light weather jacket in summer and a warm weather jacket, beanie, scarf in winter, closed, non-slip shoes, hat/cap, polarized sunglasses, towel, bathing costume (worn under your clothes), sun block & camera. If you are prone to motion sickness, or not used to being anchored at sea, we recommend Sturgeon or Dramamine tablets. Take one the night before your trip and another one and a half-hours before we are scheduled to meet. For your enjoyment of the trip, we recommend that you do not overindulge in alcohol the night before as this may result in you being very seasick the next day.

Exclusions:

Boulders Beach and Penguin entrance fees. It is not necessary to enter the facility as the penguins are easily viewed from the boardwalk. This stop is usually +- 15 -20 minutes due to time constraints. Meals not specified. A minimum of 2 persons is required for the tour to go ahead. A single supplement applies for bookings of 1 person. Optional conservation fees of R50pp
