This one-and-a-half-hour sailing adventure aboard the Spirit of Victoria is ideal for family outings and romantic rendezvous. After motoring out the V&A Waterfront, the yacht sets sail, letting the wind dictate its course. Routes aren't set in stone, typically taking you sailing around Table Bay.
Find your sea legs, feel the evening breeze and watch the sun slowly descend over the ocean, bathing Table Mountain and Cape Town in golden hues. This champagne sailing trip glides over the Atlantic Ocean; enjoy the spectacular view while sipping a glass of champagne, slowly returning to the dock.

We're based in Hong Kong and booked the trip from here. Sunset here typically is between 6 and 7pm. We messed up when we booked the 5pm sail thinking it was a sunset champagne cruise. But then again no-one thought to tell us otherwise. Although, it fast became apparent when there was only one other guest on the boat... Disinterested and unengaged crew merely going through the motions. No attempt to put up the sail. Only moment of engagement was when the tip box came out. The low point of our holiday by a considerable degree.
Having been asked to write a review on our experience on the Spirit of Victoria, I unfortunately have to begin by saying that our experience with the company was not a happy story. We made an online booking for 6 people for an afternoon cruise the day before that cruise, because it was our mother and father in-law's 30 year wedding anniversary. Upon arrival 1.5 hours before the cruise was set to start, the ticket office said that they did not receive our booking and wanted us to pay in the difference to "upgrade" to the sunset cruise. Furthermore, they told us that the afternoon cruise we had booked seats for was set to leave in 5 minutes, rather than in 1.5 hours as was stated on the website! They told us that we must either leave in 5 minutes or take the upgrade. Firstly, we had come early because we planned to go to dinner, and still wanted to be at the docks early to get the best seats. Secondly, the Spirit of Victoria was already filled with people who had taken the best spots! For these reasons, we declined the “offer” to leave in 5 minutes. We were handled with no respect, and the people working with the bookings were extremely rude and demanding. With this, I became angered because as a paying client I did not appreciate the way they were talking to my mother-in-law. Due to the rude way in which the people in the ticket office were speaking to my mother-in-law, I confronted them and demanded that we be reimbursed. They refused this. We finally agreed to upgrade our tour to the sunset one, but I will never recommend the Spirit of Victoria’s service to any of my friends or family. I regret having chosen to use the online booking system for the Spirit of Victoria for this occasion because no one in our family enjoyed the cruise as much as we had wanted to. We also felt that we had wasted our money, as we were not treated how paying customers in an international waterfront should be treated. In future, I will rather do business with the other charters in the Waterfront whose online booking systems work, and whose service is excellent. This experience really left a bad taste in all of our mouths, and tainted what was supposed to be a great, romantic evening for my in-laws’ 30th wedding anniversary. We can never get this evening back.
My wife and I did this cruise for our anniversary and really enjoyed it. Despite the wind it was really memorable. The staff at waterfront adventures was very friendly and knowledgeable. We even got to see a whale
Thanks for a fun trip! Especially impressed to see Blondie jump off the rigging! A great crowd on board - will def recommend the sunset cruise!
