More about Cheetah Focus Tour

The Cheetah focus tour: Along with the standard tour, the Cheetah Focus Tour also gives you the opportunity to drive through the Cheetahs' enclosure to experience these pro sprinters in motion. While they sprint after a cloth, moved by a pulley system, you are able to witness their powerful acceleration as they reach their top speed.

Included also is a chance to watch the beautiful wild dogs feed, before visiting the Vulture Restaurant to behold the scarce African vultures, who circle down in perfect coordination, to devour any lasting remains found on the ground.

The standard tour: Before undertaking a thorough standard tour of the centre, there is an opening presentation and an opportunity for the guests to ask the guides any questions they might have. The tour is done by experienced guides, on open safari vehicles, and lasts for 2 hours. The cheetah, African wild dog, lion, African wild cat, Ground hornbill, and Sable antelope are just some of the animals that can be found at HESC, in environments closely mimicking their natural habitats.

In addition to getting a close view of these beautiful creatures, guests also have the chance to witness the scarce African vultures feeding at the Vulture Restaurant.

Following are the starting times of the standard tours and peak season tours: Standard hours: 09h00 / 11h00 / 13h00 / 15h00 National holiday season (including public holidays) hours: 08h00 / 10h00 / 12h00 / 14h00 / 16h00

informative, interesting ( both meant in the positive sense) tour. Fascinating: the cheetah run Great: to see animals that close ( e.g. feeding wilddogs + vultures ) Would I recommend the tour: Yes ! Thanks again ! best regards Axel

Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre is beautifully maintained and the animals are really well cared for. The tour was thoroughly enjoyed, the highlight being up close to the cheetahs, the vulture feeding and the wild dogs feeding.

Excellent centre, helping to save African wildlife! Really enjoyed our 2 hour cheetah focus tour. Highlights were the behind the scenes tour of the centre, in particular the Cheetah run, Vulture restaurant feeding and feeding of wild dogs. Learnt a lot about conservation. Really well set up centre. Good introduction with video presentation. Recommend the Cheetah Focus Tour. Guide was informative and entertaining.

Fantastic experience. Amazing place, great care with animals, all lovely. I was just expecting a little more from cheetah run, maybe not just 1 single run, or one single animal. It was too fast and short. But its fine, loved all the experience.

You’ll find the leafy town of Hoedspruit between the Kruger National Park and Blyde River Canyon.
