There are many experiences on offer at The Crags, near Plettenberg Bay in the Western Cape, but few match this elephant experience. This elephant back safari is an opportunity to experience these majestic animals from a different perspective, while the guides provide interesting facts along the way.
The dedicated trainers have a special relationship with the elephants and their positive training methods mean the elephants are relaxed and enjoy interacting with people. It is an ideal way to better understand these gentle giants. A DVD of your elephant experience can also be purchased.

The handlers were very kind to our daughter who has balance problems. When it was clear that she could not stay safe they immediately returned to the start so that she could get off. Very friendly and understanding
My friend and I had a great time. The ride was not quite what I had imagined, which was going off into the bush, or something. All that I could think of when on the elephant was; don't fall off, or you will get squashed.. Our guide was really friendly and good and he took lots of photographs which was something that I wanted. The expectation of all the staff to be tipped, even though there is a "tip box" at reception was a bit irritating. Would I go back and do it again? YES.

Good service from all staff,an experience that was well worth the time.
This was my fifth visit and each time somehow it is just as exciting. They are of course majestic animals and, as we know, they have great memories which is why we always recognise one another! The other important feature of the Elephant Sanctuary is that the keepers and other staff are both extremely knowledgeable and friendly. We certainly will come back as soon as possible. Thank you, Felix
