More about Whale Watching Self Drive

This whale watching trip lasts between two and two-and-a-half hours and departs from Kleinbaai harbour near Gansbaai. You’ll receive a brief introductory talk and safety briefing before being issued with a lifejacket and waterproof. You’ll then head out to Dyer Island, about 8km out to sea.

On route to the whale watching hotspot, you’ll be able to see African penguins and Cape fur seals. The marine biologist guides will help you scan the horizon and spot whales, without disturbing their natural environment. The whale watching trip is fun and educational, with emphasis on conservation.

What a great experience! With everything I could get to protect me from seasickness I went on board. No troubles at all! We had a great trip and saw the whales so close by we could almost touch them! The crew was experienced and we could ask all the questions we wanted. Seeing the whales and hearing them is somethig I'll never forget.
